При взгляде сверху возникает обманчивое впечатление "сплошной каменности" города. На самом деле на улицах довольно много зелени, но она низкорослая, неразличимая с высоты.

Athens seen from Acropolis, Greece, September 2004. At the first glance, you may get the deceptive impression that there is nothing but stone here. But in fact, there are many trees and other plants down the streets. Most of them are undersized though and could not be seen from the top, what gives the city the "white stone sea" appearance.
